Our editorial approach
Facts and interpretation
Facts carry sources. Interpretation explains incentives, constraints and consequences. Reported plans, estimates, forecasts and disputed claims retain their qualifications.
Evidence and uncertainty
Source dates can differ from the edition date. Missing or outdated evidence is disclosed when it materially limits an assessment. A gap in evidence does not establish that conditions are safe.
Crisis coverage
A prominent crisis alert requires evidence of financial stress, a sufficiently broad economic impact and a credible path of transmission, supported by independent evidence. Serious local difficulties alone do not establish a wider crisis.
A developing monitoring approach
The monitoring approach is being evaluated prospectively. Assessments describe the available evidence and its limits; they are not a validated prediction of future events.
Dated editions and updates
Each edition states its research cutoff. Material updates are dated and identified alongside the affected story. Sources and earlier editions remain accessible through the archive.
