AfD wins an office but still cannot convert votes into government.
Facts
AfD won Saxony-Anhalt’s election but finished three seats short of a majority and has no coalition partner. Tobias Rausch nevertheless became state-parliament president with BSW support and at least four additional votes; the premiership vote is planned for December.
InterpretationThe firewall still blocks executive control, but secret-ballot leakage shows institutional isolation is no longer airtight. The hard test is whether AfD can assemble durable legislative support rather than symbolic offices.
