The MAHA–MAGA alliance is spending far less than promised
Facts
The Wall Street Journal reports that health-focused groups which promised $100 million for Republican midterm candidates had spent about $4 million, amid donor disillusionment.
InterpretationThe right’s electoral coalition is broad but not automatically cohesive. Health-policy activists can withhold money and enthusiasm, while Republican leaders must decide how much regulatory disruption they will accept. Conservative rhetoric is not a substitute for an operating coalition.
